Engineering
Under the direction of the Director of Roads, Bob Hoepfner, and Deputy County Highway Engineer, Walt Schell, the engineering staff is responsible for the design and construction engineering of all road and bridge projects under the jurisdiction of MCDR.
This work includes survey, preparation of plans, specifications and bidding documents for projects, as well as the construction oversight and material testing required during the construction phase of the projects. These projects include road reconstruction, road resurfacing, bridge replacement, bridge rehabilitation, and large culvert replacements.
The Engineering Department is also responsible for conducting biannual safety inspections of 214 bridges on the Macomb County road system.
